A person working in Spain and registered with Social Security normally follows the public route. Confirm recognition and regional health-service registration.
Students and self-sufficient residents
The EU residence framework requires sufficient resources and comprehensive sickness insurance for people relying on these categories. An S1 or suitable private cover may provide evidence depending on the individual position.
EHIC is not a universal residence solution
An EHIC can be relevant to some students and temporary situations. It should not be assumed to establish ordinary long-term residence healthcare for every applicant.
Family members
A dependant may obtain entitlement through a covered person but the relationship and recognition still need to be documented. Confirm each family member separately.
