Public prescriptions
A person recognised in the public system follows the applicable pharmaceutical contribution rules. The amount is not determined by whether they also hold private insurance.
Private prescriptions
A private doctor can prescribe medicine but the cost at the pharmacy may remain with the patient unless the contract contains a specific benefit.
Convenio especial
The agreement covers the common basic care portfolio but does not confer the supplementary pharmaceutical benefit. Include regular medication in the real monthly cost.
Before changing systems
Keep a current medication list and copies of relevant reports. A new clinician may need evidence before continuing treatment.
